BREEAM UK Strategic Ecology Framework (SEF)

About the Strategic Ecology Framework

BREEAM UK’s Strategic Ecology Framework (SEF) aims to achieve positive long-term ecology outcomes via the BREEAM family of schemes. Launched in 1990, BREEAM is a globally established methodology for assessing sustainability in buildings and development.

Using Scientific methodology, BREEAM encourages designers and developers to push beyond required standards in current regulation to deliver more sustainable buildings through design, planning and use.

The methodology empowers industry to lay the foundations for more resilient communities while maintaining a strong asset value for investors.

The BREEAM family of schemes include:

  • BREEAM UK    New Construction 2018 – Non-domestic
  • HQM ONE   New construction – Domestic
  • CEEQUAL   Civil Engineering – Infrastructure – Landscaping
